I moved to the U.S. at age 17 with my family right after graduating high school in Saint-Petersburg, Russia where I grew up. Aside from speaking Russian and English, I also speak Armenian. My cultural diversity helps me to be more creative at conceptualizing. Following my parents' steps, I thought I would become a doctor which made me get my undergrad degree in biology from UC Irvine. Simultaneously, I've started involving myself with nightlife and the EDM scene. At the age of 19, I became one of the best sub-promoters at Avalon Hollywood, bringing on average 50-100 people every Friday and Saturday. Everyone must have thought, "who is this crazy Russian kid who appeared out of nowhere." At the age of 21, I became one of the best sub-promoters at Create Nightclub. Shortly after, I was able to secure my first serious job as an integrated marketing supervisor and later became the head of marketing at Create Nightclub where I worked for 3 years. It was a great learning experience as I was directly working for the GM who went on to launch Hakkasan San Diego and VP of SBE Marketing who went on to become Director of Nightlife Strategy at Hakkasan Group and later moved to Tao Group for another executive position. There were many other great people at SBE who were much smarter than me but it's also worth mentioning I was collaborating closely with Insomniac's marketing team. Shout out to Chase Fiedler, Matt Smit, and Liel Hazut. In 2016, I went back to Avalon Hollywood but this time as the head of marketing. Aside from announcing shows, controlling online ticketing, and helping to decide who to book next, I've built a new sub-promoter team and opened additional side stages like "Pioneer Stage" and "Jerry Lewis Stage" which have become a platform for up and coming artists in LA. Most recently, I started handling digital advertising and became an expert in FB paid ad campaigns, managing a $300K annual ad budget. In 2017, I decided to get my master's degree and thought business administration and entrepreneurship were what I was most passionate about. I was fortunate for UCLA to accept me for its highly selective and rigorous MBA program for fully employed professionals. Needless to mention, I had to make a lot of personal sacrifices to keep up at both my job and studies and, finally, graduate in 2020.
